About our worship music
At Faith Anchorage, we usually (but not exclusively), use the Trinity Hymnal, revised edition for worship. This is a popular hymnal amongst Reformed congregations like ours, containing some 740 hymns (see the titles and composers). There is also a searchable database of the previous edition of this hymnal (1961), which may be helpful in terms of learning about the worship at Faith. For more hymns, see the Hymnary Project.

About our Bible translation preference
For our readings from the Bible during worship, Faith Anchorage uses the English Standard Version of the Bible, published by Crossway Books. For those unfamiliar with the ESV, this is what the publishers call an “essentially literal” translation that seeks to reveal, as best as possible, the structure and meaning of the original text. At the same time, the ESV seeks to be literarily excellent so that “echoes and overtones of meaning” are evident (learn more). In short, it is a theologically conservative and academically serious translation with the scholarship of men like J. I. Packer, Wayne Grudem, Darrell Bock,Vern Poythress, Leland Ryken, Leon Morris, and Gordon Wenham involved. You can find an online version (with audio files) here.

Confessions of belief
As a Reformed, confessional, congregation, all of our officers (elders and deacons) subscribe to the system of beliefs contained in the following confessions of faith.  These are biblical documents filled with nearly 4,000 biblical citations (which are officially a part of the statements themselves). While these are not documents that we ask our membership to subscribe to, we do ask that our members be aware of them (which we assist through various teaching ministries). For those who have not yet decided to join Faith, please know that our elders believe it is theologically honest for any church leader to publicly and consistently make known what it is that they believe.
