Faith logoWhen and where do you worship?
Faith meets for Sunday worship at 11:00 am at the Tanglewood Golf Chalet (see contact) in South Anchorage. We also have a Fall and Spring Sunday morning education ministry that is open to all and begins at 9:30 (learn more). You can find us just off of the New Seward Highway, on the east Frontage Road (also called Brayton Dr., which runs north only), between Huffman Rd. and O’Malley Rd.

What is your facility like?
We worship in a light-filled ‘chalet’ overlooking a golf course and the Chugach Mountains! Instead of pews, we have cushioned chairs. Instead of an organ or a Steinway, we have a keyboard. We have  space to gather for worship, a safe nursery space for infants and toddlers, and plenty of tables for sharing meals together (which we do monthly).

What is your worship service like?
We desire to be God-centered and winsome in our worship. Our worship service opens with a short time of announcements about what’s going on in the congregation, followed by a silent time to prepare our hearts for worship. The service begins with John reading one of the many invitations to worship found in the Bible. We like to sing together, so every worship service includes hymns sung with keyboard accompaniment. With every worship service, John leads us in five prayers: a prayer of confession of sin, a prayer for our needs as Christians, a prayer for the glorifying use of God’s offering, a prayer for the Spirit’s use of the sermon, and a prayer for the Bible’s work in our hearts. Reading from the Bible is prevalent in our worship service; with every worship service we read a portion of the Old Testament and the New Testament, words that remind us of sinfulness, and words of assurance that remind us of Christ’s work on the cross for God’s children. Our worship service ends with a benediction (a blessing from God to the church), and we go out into the new week by singing a short doxology (praise) together. ["Why is the worship service like this?"]

How long is the worship service?
John leads the service and usually preaches between 25 and 35 minutes. Usually, our services last from an hour and fifteen minutes (through 12:15 pm).

Is there a nursery for my children?
During the worship service, we provide a safe, supervised place for infants and children. However, if you would rather not be separated from your children, please bring your children into the worship service without worrying about disruption; we love worshipping together and the noises of squirming children actually add to our service! Some parents find that walking around with their children at the back of the sanctuary helps.

Is there Sunday morning educational program?
Yes, our fall childhood, youth, and adult educational ministry begins at 9:30 am during the Fall and Spring; learn more.
